A Simple Guide To Protecting Your Hair While You Sleep
Do you feel like your hair could be healthier and shown a little more TLC?
Or maybe you finally have really healthy hair and you want to know how to keep it healthy!
Whichever situation you’re in - this is the perfect guide to achieving those hair goals!
6 Ways To Protect Your Hair While You Sleep
GIFT YOURSELF A SILK PILLOWCASE
Silk fabrics are gentle on your hair strands where as some other fabrics (such as cotton) have a tendency to absorb your hair’s natural moisture.
NEVER GO TO BED WITH WET HAIR
If you are going to wash your hair in the evening make sure your hair is completely dry before you lay your head down to sleep. When your hair is wet it’s at its most fragile state and tends to be more prone to breaking.
GENTLY BRUSH YOUR HAIR
When you brush your hair you’re spreading natural oils from your roots to your ends - this helps your hair stay hydrated, shiney and healthy!
AVOID USING RUBBER BANDS
Don’t sleep with your hair tied up in rubber bands - this tugs at your roots and can also cause breakage to your hair. Instead do a loose braid or a twisted bun secured by a silk scrunchie.
APPLY DRY SHAMPOO TO YOUR ROOTS
While you can apply dry shampoo any time of the day - one of my favorite times to use it is before bed! Your hair will absorb it as you sleep and you’ll wake up with refreshed looking hair in the morning.
APPLY AN OVERNIGHT TREATMENT
This is my favorite thing to do the night before hair wash day! I love doing scalp treatments and leave in mask / conditioners. Your scalp is the base for achieving healthy hair - by leaving in a treatment overnight your scalp will have time to soak up the nutrients it needs to stay healthy!
