4 Makeup Tips From Jess That You Deserve To Know!

WHEN YOU’RE APPLYING MAKEUP

I always recommend starting off with less product and adding more as you go. It’s really easy to add more pigmentation and coverage… but it’s not easy to remove. (Sometimes I even trust myself a little too much and think “ohhh it’s fine this is a really pretty color as I apply 3 dots of liquid blush directly onto to my cheeks) then when try to blend it I realize I applied WAY TOO MUCH.

JESS’S TIP: Apply product to the back of your hand verses directly onto your face or brush. This will allow you to dabble your makeup brush / sponge into the product and pick up a little at a time.

WHEN YOU’RE SHOPPING FOR MAKEUP

So many makeup products can work for multiple purposes, so if you see a shade or product you like try to think of all the ways you can put just that one product to use! This helps you save money and takes up less room in your makeup bag. For example aside from using bronzer to give my face a healthy glow — I love applying it to my eyes as a warm natural eye shadow shade, and sometimes I even use it to contour my lips! That’s 3 products in one! BOOM!

WHEN YOU’RE LEARNING HOW TO USE MAKEUP

I’ve always been a firm believer that there’s never a right or wrong way to apply makeup. New makeup hacks and tips are always surfacing and that’s what makes the world of beauty so intriguing. If your favorite TikTok influencer shares a tip on how to apply concealer, I encourage you have fun and experiment — but if that hack isn’t working for you don’t be afraid to try a different way. As long as you find what application method works best for you, you are doing it correctly!

THE PRODUCT YOU SHOULD NEVER LEAVE OUT

It's SO important that you prep your skin for makeup - the one skincare product you never want never leave out is your moisturizer. Aside from locking in moisture, nutrients, and protecting your skin from environmental stressors — when it comes to makeup application moisturizers help with three other very important things:

  1. Helps to smooth your skin's surface, which will allow for you to apply your foundation and concealer more evenly and seamlessly.

  2. Keeps your skin hydrated underneath your makeup - which helps to prevent your makeup from looking dull and cakey

  3. Helps your makeup last longer throughout the day.
